The residency “Artist in need” was founded by Artivist Lab with the cooperation of the ‘Academy of Fine Arts for Ukraine’ and the Institute of Arts and MeetFactory. Our joint effort is to help professional artists who are fleeing war. We provided them with a workplace, a studio, and accommodation. We believe that we provided them with a minimum level of life security in these hard times of war.

Rezidenční pobyt „Umělec v tísni / Artist in need“ vznikl v rámci platformy Akademie výtvarných umění pro Ukrajinu ve spolupráci s Institutem umění, Artivist Labem a MeetFactory. Naší společnou snahou bylo pomoci profesionálním umělcům, kteří uprchli před válkou. Poskytli jsme jim pracoviště – ateliéry a ubytování minimálně na tři měsíce, čímž jsme jim dali minimální životní jistotu.

Antik Danov 

He was born in 1992 in Ukraine and deals with several creative disciplines. He received his education in the field of Design and Architecture. Within his own artistic practice, he focuses primarily on the motifs and processes of modernity. Between 2014 and 2019, he operated under the pseudonym tet9l (aunt). Since then, he performs under the name Antik Danov.

Narodil se v roce 1992 na Ukrajině a zabývá se vícero tvůrčími disciplínami. Vzdělání získal v oboru Design a architektura. V rámci vlastní umělecké praxe se zaměřuje především na motivy a procesy modernity. V letech 2014 až 2019 působil pod pseudonymem tet9l (teta). Od té doby vystupuje pod jménem Antik Danov.

Kateryna Mamchur

Kateryna Mamchur was born in 1990 in the Ukrainian city of Melitopol. She received her university degree at the Oles Hončar Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology, Fine Arts and Design of the Dnipro National University. She also studied Illustration at the Projector School of Applied Arts in Kyiv for a while. She currently focuses on performance and illustration. She has been studying performing arts since 2017.

Kateryna Mamchur se narodila v roce 1990 v ukrajinském městě Melitopol. Vysokoškolský titul obdržela na Fakultě ukrajinské a cizí filologie, výtvarných umění a designu Dniperské národní univerzity Olese Hončara. Jistou dobu také studovala obor Ilustrace na Uměleckoprůmyslové škole Projector v Kyjevě. Momentálně se zaměřuje na performance a ilustraci. Performativní umění studuje od roku 2017.

Yulya Kisil 

Studied at the School of Contemporary Art in Kyiv, Ukraine. Kisil is a multimedia artist who deals with themes of social issues. Her well-known project in Ukraine is ‘Homeless Spirit’ from 2018. Where the most vulnerable people with a lack of fate, such as orphans, people with disabilities, and alcohol or drug addiction, are elevated to the rank of a deity.

Studovala na Škole současného umění v Kyjevě na Ukrajině. Yulya Kisil je multimediální umělkyně, která se zabývá sociálními tématy, ve svých dílech poukazuje na ty, na které společnost už dávno zapomněla. V projektu „Duch bez domova“ z roku 2018 povýšila do hodnosti božstva nejzranitelnější lidi s nedostatkem osudu, jako jsou sirotci, lidé s postižením, alkoholici, narkomani atd…

Svitlana Reinish

Svitlana Reinish is a digital artist who focuses on the relationship between technology and aesthetics in the visual arts. As a graduate of Kyiv Art Academy in 2009, Svitlana has a foundational background in classical art, and she applies her trained knowledge as a basis in her work. Reinish takes part in light and music festivals worldwide and cooperates with theatres.

Svitlana Reinish je absolventkou Kyjevské umělecké akademie, (2009) je digitální umělkyně, která se zaměřuje na vztah mezi technologií a estetikou ve výtvarném umění. Akademie jí poskytla základy klasického umění, které uplatňuje ve své práci pomocí programování a videomappingu. Reinish se účastní světelných a hudebních festivalů po celém světě a spolupracuje s divadly velkého formátu.

Oksan Proshutya

Oksana Proshutya was born in Kiev, Ukraine on 10 th October 1980. Her work focuses on her inner contents and plots, situations, symbolisms, and metaphors. She loves to make people up. During her career, she engaged in a number of areas. She worked as an interior designer, an illustrator, a theatre and cinema stage designer, a tattoo artist, an exhibition curator, a storyboard artist, and a jewel creator using the minankari technique. After she gave birth to her three children, she did not have much time to pursue her artistic visions. That is when she started to draw quick sketches of nature and the like. She fell in love with this technique shortly after. At the same time, she came up with the idea of picturing the life of toys after children stop playing with them which resulted in the “No toys” series. When she works, she tries to balance her inner contents with the external human actions, situations, and scenes. She thinks that the artistic output helps to create an emotional bond between the artist and the spectator who contemplates over the artwork. She founded a fine art studio in 2019, where she teaches children to draw and perceive beauty around them. Just last year, she put a lot of time and effort into the improvisation theatre Black Square. She has loved theatre since she was a child and she uses the plastic language of drama for everything she cannot put on paper.

Oksana Proshutya se narodila 10. října 1980 v ukrajinském Kyjevě. V rámci vlastní umělecké praxe dbá na obsah sebe sama, zápletku, situaci, symboliku a metafory. Ráda si vymýšlí různé postavy. Během dosavadní kariéry se zabývala různými obory – pracovala jako interiérová designérka, ilustrátorka, divadelní a filmová scénografka, tatérka, kurátorka, malířka obrazových scénářů a tvůrkyně šperků s využitím techniky minankari. Po narození svých tří dětí neměla na tvorbu čas. Tehdy začala s rychlokresbou skic přírody apod. a záhy se do této činnosti zamilovala. Ve stejné době přišla s nápadem vyobrazit život hraček poté, co z nich děti vyrostou. Tím se zrodila série „No toys“ (Žádné hračky). V dílech se snaží docílit rovnováhy mezi vnitřním obsahem a vnějšími projevy lidí, situací a pohledů. Domnívá se, že díky umělecké tvorbě dochází k emocionálnímu propojení mezi autorem a divákem, který nad jeho dílem rozjímá. V roce 2019 založila výtvarný ateliér, kde učí děti kreslit a vnímat krásu v okolí. Loni zase věnovala hodně času a pozornosti improvizačnímu divadlu Black Square. Dramatu propadla již v útlém věku a se vším, co se nedokáže vměstnat na papír, spoléhá na plastický jazyk divadla.
