Nikaragujští umělci Alejandro De La Guerra a Elyla budou zkoumat téma exilového umění a svobody slova v rámci Queer tématiky.
De La Guerra je multidisciplinární umělec, který pracuje na estetizaci moci, kolektivní paměti a monumentálních jazycích veřejného prostoru. Elyla sú performeri a queer aktivisti. Jejich práce kriticky zkoumá mužskou linii Sandinistické revoluce a narativy národní identity.
ELYA představí své dílo letos na Bienále v Benátkách. Hned po zahájení Biennále navštíví Artivist Lab i AVU a její studenty!

Elyla (Chontales, 1989) jsou performer* a aktivist* ze Střední Ameriky, Nikaraguy. V jejich práci se věnují budování odporu vůči koloniálním, imperialistickým a západním ideologiím v oblasti vytváření politiky identity a kulturních narativů národního státu, konkrétně v souvislosti s mestizaje, queer (cochoneidad) a domorodým původem. Elyla představili jejich práce na IX/X Bienále v Nikaragui, IX/X Bienále Střední Ameriky a XII Bienále v kubánské Havaně a bude součástí 60. mezinárodní výstavy umění La Biennale di Venezia, jejímž kurátorem je Adriano Pedrosa.
De La Guerra je multidisciplinární umělec zabývající se estetizací moci, kolektivní pamětí a jazykem monumentálního umění ve veřejném prostoru. Využívá performance, velkoformátová díla, sochy, výšivky i relační umění, přičemž své umění chápe jako jeden mnohovrstevnatý projekt, jehož hnací silou je zkoumání násilí a uzdravení, které se nachází v uměleckém aktivismu a v moci lidských vztazích.

Nicaraguan artists Alejandro De La Guerra and Elyla explore exile art and freedom of expression through queer topics.
De La Guerra is a multidisciplinary artist who works on the aestheticization of power, collective memory, and monumental languages of public spaces.
Elyla is a performance artist and queer activist.
Their work critically explores the masculine lineage of the Sandinista revolution, the narratives of national identity, and the experience of being a cochon barro-mestiza in a religious, conservative society.
ELYA will present their work at the Venice Biennale this year. Right after the opening of the Biennale, they will visit Artivist Lab, AVU, and the students!

Elyla (Chontales, 1989) is a performance artist and activist from Central America, Nicaragua. Their work deals with creating resistance to colonial, imperialist, and western ideologies around the construction of identity politics and nation-state cultural narratives, specifically as it relates to mestizaje, queerness (cochoneidad), and indigenous ancestry. Elyla has presented their work at the IX/X Biennial of Nicaragua, IX/X Central American Biennials, and the XII Biennial of Havana, Cuba and will be part of the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia curated by Adriano Pedrosa.
De La Guerra is a multidisciplinary artist who works on the aestheticization of power, collective memory, and monumental languages of public spaces. He uses performance, large-scale works, sculptures, embroideries and relational art, and conceives his art as a single multi-layered project driven by an exploration of violence and healing, art-activism and, relations of power on human relationships.
