“… a všechny uši mohly slyšet”

Město Salzburg je plné skrytých příběhů. Jedním z nich je příběh pracovního tábora Maxglan, kde bylo v letech 1940-1943 internováno 200-300 Romů/ek a Sinthů/ek. Většina z těchto lidí byla deportována do nacistických vyhlazovacích táborů, a následně zavražděna.
Jak tuto všeobecnou historiografii ukázat, jako neúplnou a doplněnou o citlivé a nadějné smyšlenky osobních životních příběhů lidí, kteří prošli tímto táborem?
Jaké hlasy, vědomosti a pozice odpovídají historiografii národního socialismu, a zejména těch, kdo jím byli pronásledováni a zavražděni? Jak vynést jednotlivé biografie z kolektivního zapomnění do naší situace tady a teď a jak je propojit s dnešním životem, a tím i s námi samými?Audioinstalace Als alle Ohren hören konnten (“… a všechny uši mohly slyšet”) shromáždila na 50 osobních dopisů pro vězně tábora Maxglan a vysílá je ze zvukových sloupů. Autoři tyto dopisy prostřednictvím memory sponsorships individuálními způsoby spojují s konkrétními lidmi a jejich životními příběhy. Audioinstalace se soustřeďuje na hlasy a myšlenky romských a sinthských umělců/kyň, aktivistů/tek, vědců/kyní a komunitních pracovníků/kyň. Memory sponsorship je připomínkovým aktem – v protikladu k paměti zalité do betonových/pevných pomníků stavíme živý zájem o minulost a osobní zodpovědnost za budoucnost. Píšeme příběhy těch, jejichž životy byly navráceny paměti. Zatímco původně se dopisy ozývaly ze země okolo bývalého pracovního tábora Maxglan, nyní část audioinstalace posíláme na cestu – a příští stanicí je Artivist Lab v Praze. Poslechnout si ji zde bud možné od 23. června do 11. srpna.Instalace vznikla z iniciativy Kollektiv Projekt, ročníku 2020-2022 Master Applied Theatre a Institutu Thomase Bernharda na Univerzitě Mozarteum v rakouském Salzburku. The city of Salzburg is full of shadow stories. One such is the story of the forced labour camp Maxglan in Salzburg, where 200-300 Rom*nja and Sinti*zze were interned between 1940 and 1943. Most of these people were deported to the Nazi extermination camps and murdered there.
How can the widespread historiography be exposed as incomplete and supplemented with affectionate and hopeful fabrications about the personal life stories of the people in the camp?
Which voices and thus which knowledge and which positions are particularly relevant for the historiography about National Socialism and especially about those affected and killed by it?
How can individual biographies be brought out of collective oblivion back into the here and now and placed in connection with today’s life and thus with ourselves?
The audio installation Als alle Ohren hören konnten (When all ears could hear) gathers about 50 personal letters addressed to the prisoners of the Maxglan camp and sounded from listening columns. Through memory sponsorships, the letter authors connect in an individual way with individual persons and their life stories. The audio installation focuses on the voices and thoughts of Rom*nja and Sinti*zze artists, activists, scientists and community workers.Memory sponsorships are an act of active remembrance – we counter the past cast in rigid monuments with a living concern for the past and a personal responsibility for the future. We write the stories of those whose lives were taken back into memory. While the letters originally sounded from the ground around the former camp in Maxglan, the audio installation now becomes a wandering memorial. In order to make it possible to experience the urgency and validity of the letters beyond the local context in Maxglan, we are taking part of the audio installation on a journey – the next stop is Artivist Lab, Prague. It can be heard there between June 23 and August 11.
The installation was initiated by the Kollektiv Projekt, the class of 2020-2022 of the Masters Applied Theatre at the Thomas Bernhard Institute of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria. Mentors are Univ. Prof. Ulrike Hatzer and Trace Polly Müller. Our sincere thanks go to all the participants who lend us their strong and inspiring voices.
